On Friday,  March 2. Phil Johnson, aka “Phil the Grill,” is bringing his award-winning barbecue to the city’s arts district with his new restaurant Trapp Haus BBQ. Johnson has won a number of cooking competitions during his years on the barbecue competition circuit.

“It has always been a dream of mine to open my own BBQ joint,” Johnson said in a press release. “Trapp Haus BBQ is the combination of my Bronx background, my skill in competition-style BBQ and my desire to give people good food that is made with my heart and soul.”

Before Trapp Haus, Johnson operated the Sammitch food truck and some of the items on his restaurant’s menu originated in the food truck, including his “Philly Crack Wing,” which got the name because of the wings’ addictive nature. If you get a chance, come on out and support Phil the Grill and Trapp Haus BBQ.
